Metropolis leaders on Wednesday declared the completion of the Higher Haight Transit Enhancement and Pedestrian Realm Project, which aims to boost basic safety and performance along Haight Road — just one of San Francisco’s most legendary corridors.
Building on the $22.3 million project started in September 2018 and sought to revitalize and boost Haight Road, household to assorted retailers, bars and places to eat.
With the project concluded, the avenue now consists of quite a few new safety options, like new pedestrian lighting, curb ramps compliant with the American Disabilities Act, and expanded bus boarding areas.
In addition, seven blocks of Haight Road have been repaved and the job also changed the corridor’s aging sewer system. The task further included new trees and sidewalks alongside the road.
